Join our fundraising trip to Crete – June 14th to 22nd, 2025: a memorable adventure to support a great cause!

A Life-Changing Journey

Do you dream of going on an adventure while making a significant contribution? The Fondation Hôpital Saint-Eustache is thrilled to present an exciting initiative: a memorable trip to beautiful Crete, where all proceeds will go towards a good cause and raise funds to support our hospital by acquiring a spinal cord analysis microscope.

For this event, Georges Pothier (a journalist at TVA) has kindly agreed to represent us as a spokesperson.

« Hello, dear friends,

I enthusiastically accepted to join the Fondation Hôpital Saint-Eustache and this wonderful hiking trip in Crete to help finance the Fondation’s many projects.

Every year, the Fondation purchases high-level medical equipment and helps keep our hospital at the cutting edge of technology.

As a resident of the Lower Laurentians, it is my local hospital, and its development is dear to my heart, as it is for the tens of thousands of citizens in the region.

The Fondation has great ambitions and one of them is to organize an unforgettable hiking trip in Crete, which will take place from June 14th to 22nd, 2025. I am thrilled to participate and hope you will join me. The trip is organized by professionals, including your guide Alexis Nantel, also known as “Alexis the Hiker.”

Mr. Pothier will be accompanied by professional hiker Alexis Nantel.

“Dear hiking friends,

Welcome to this unique adventure that will take you to the heart of Crete, an island where the wild beauty of the mountains meets the softness of the Mediterranean
beaches. This trek will not only be an opportunity to immerse yourself in breathtaking landscapes but also an opportunity to connect with yourself, your fellow hikers, nature, and a worthy cause.

Every step you take on these ancient trails will help guide your personal growth journey and provide hope and
support for those in need. Together, we will hike for the Fondation Hôpital Saint-Eustache, and this solidarity makes the journey much more than just an
athletics challenge; it is also a great human adventure.

I hope you find in this experience the inspiration, strength, and sense of sharing that drives me,
because every step you take changes lives.”

A first outing to give you a glimpse of Crete 2025 trip.

The outing on Saturday, February 8, at the Alfred-Kelly Nature Reserve was an excellent opportunity to prepare for our fundraising trip to Crete. This initial meeting helped strengthen bonds among the participants while offering a preview of the group spirit for our trip next June.

A Warm Atmosphere

From the outset, everyone was in a good mood. The participants, coming from various backgrounds, quickly felt at ease. The atmosphere buzzed with laughter and lively conversation, reflecting a true desire to connect.

An Inspiring Natural Scenery
The Alfred-Kelly Nature Reserve, with its wooded trails and breathtaking views, provided an ideal backdrop for this outing. The beauty of the scenery encouraged participants to connect not only with nature but also with one another.

Clear Goals Achieved

This first challenge involved walking down a previously selected path to assess the participants’ physical condition and strengthen the group spirit. Everyone rose to the challenge with flying colours, showcasing the group’s strength and determination.

Feedback was unanimous: “It was an enriching and motivating first meeting!” Many highlighted the significance of these team-building moments in preparing for the upcoming trip.

Join us on this life-changing journey

This first outing showcased the strength of solidarity and team spirit. If you’re seeking an extraordinary human adventure and wish to support a great cause, join us. The Crete fundraising trip will be life-changing!

A successful second preparatory outing!

On Saturday, May 24, our supportive hikers gathered in Labelle for their second preparatory hike ahead of their fundraising trip to Crete. Despite unpredictable weather, the 14 participants, led by Alexis Nantel (known as Alexis the hiker), successfully reached the top of Montagne Verte and Nez de l’Indien: a 12.3 km loop with a 622-meter elevation gain over varied terrain featuring roots, rocks, and breathtaking views of mountains and lakes.

This challenging yet enjoyable day, filled with smiles and teamwork, allowed everyone to test their gear and prepare for similar conditions in Crete. To top it all off, the team officially reached the $30,000 fundraising goal! A well-deserved reward for a dedicated, generous, and inspiring group.

Fundraising trip to Crete: stunning landscapes, joyful moments… and a mission successfully completed!

From June 14 to 22, 2025, 16 hikers travelled to Crete, Greece, on a fundraising expedition for the Fondation Hôpital Saint-Eustache. The Fondation cheered on the group as they departed from Montreal airport, and the hikers appeared deeply touched and eager to embark on this remarkable adventure.

Over nine days, participants explored the island’s mountain trails, facing physical challenges amid a lively, laughter-filled environment. Staying in traditional accommodations, enjoying local cuisine, and participating in authentic cultural experiences offered a full immersion into Cretan culture.

Beyond personal experience, this project holds deep meaning for us and has been successfully materialized, with $32,488.25 raised so far, surpassing the original target of $30,000. This funding will enable us to purchase a microscope for the Hematology-Oncology Department at Saint-Eustache Hospital, marking a tangible improvement in patient care in the Lower Laurentians. The Fondation was there to welcome the group upon their return on June 22. The atmosphere was filled with emotion: participants, proud, joyful, and inspired by the experience, were already showing their eagerness to come back. It was a journey driven by humanity and solidarity, with benefits that will be felt for a long time, both locally in Saint-Eustache and globally.
